Open Cattle Show
The best seedstock producers in the region, and across the country, exhibit cattle at the Arizona National Livestock Show. The open cattle show provides divisions for Angus, Brahman, Brangus, Hereford, Red Angus, Shorthorn, Simmental, Other Percentage Breeds and All Other Breeds. The winners of each breed then compete for the most prestigious awards a cattle exhibitor can receive – the titles of Supreme Champion Bull, Supreme Champion Female, and Supreme Champion Cow-Calf of the show.
This year’s Supreme Selection is set for December 31 at 2:30 p.m. in the Outside Show Ring.
Club Calf Show & Sale
The Club Calf Show (formerly the Feeder Steer Show) has been an event cornerstone since the Arizona National Livestock Show’s inception. At it’s heart, this open show and sale were developed to provide an avenue for junior exhibitors to view and purchase quality cattle from reputable consignors, to take to other shows or bring back to the Arizona National Livestock Show the following year.
Club Calves of prospect age and less than 900 pounds are divided into weight classes for each division. Consignments are accepted on an individual basis, as well as per pen of 3. See rules for details.
The show will be held Thursday, December 31 at 9 a.m., immediately following the Sun Classic Heifer Show, while the sale will be held at 3 p.m.
Club Calf Show Divisions
- Purebred British Breeds (Angus, Shorthorn, Hereford)
- Maine-Anjou and Maine-Anjou Crosses
- Black Calves (steers that are primarily black including baldy and blue roan)
- All Other Colored Calves Not Primarily Black (includes red, yellow, grey, buff, cream, white, or any combination of these colors)
- All Club Calf Heifers (all breeds and all colors show together and will be divided by weight only)
Sun Classic Heifer Show & Sale
Arizona National Livestock Show coordinators saw a need for the sale of project-quality heifers to area 4-H and FFA exhibitors as project calves, so the Sun Classic Heifer Show and Sale was born. Consignors to the show and sale must have raised the entered heifer, and be the current owner for sale eligibility.
The Sun Classic Heifer Show is open to purebred and percentage females, to be shown by breed, while crossbred heifers will show by weight. All entries to the Sun Classic Heifer Show will sell at auction; private treaty sales are NOT allowed.
The Sun Classic Heifer Show takes place Thursday, December 31 at 9 a.m., just before the Club Calf Show, while the sale will be held at 3 p.m.
